The Wandering Earth 2 (2023) is a Chinese sci-fi prequel directed by Frant Gwo, following humanity's desperate attempt to save Earth from a rapidly expanding sun by building massive engines to propel the planet out of the solar system. Set earlier than the first film, it focuses on the origin of this project, overcoming a space elevator crisis, and deciding between digital life or moving the physical planet.
